Annual World AIDS Day Observances
About The Event
Since 1988, World AIDS Day has raised global awareness of the HIV and AIDS pandemic through community events and engagement. Hamptons PRIDE began its first World AIDS Day observances in 2024 with the Names Project, a ceremonial reading of the names of East End community members who have lost their lives to the virus, and a viewing of Quilts from the National AIDS Memorial.
Each year, Hamptons PRIDE continues to observe World AIDS Day through community events, offering the chance to reflect on those lost to the AIDS pandemic, and to celebrate the resilience of the East End’s LGBTQIA+ community.

Hamptons Pride, Inc. is an all-volunteer not-for-profit public charity (tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code) that celebrates and commemorates the LGBTQIA+ people and their allies on the East End of Long Island. The organization’s founding goal is the creation of an historical marker and outdoor social area on the footprint of The Swamp (the last and longest-running gay club in the Hamptons) in what is now Wainscott Green, a park in the Town of East Hampton. Hamptons Pride’s free services, including the annual Hamptons Pride Parade on the first Saturday of June, are made possible by the generosity of foundations, businesses, and individuals like you. Thank you!
