Hamptons Pride Film Series

Hamptons Pride Film Series

We went west in August!

Friends, we were delighted to bring the most exciting installment yet of the HP Film Series to beautiful, storied Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Monday, August 25th! Co-director Bennett Singer, and Walter Naegle, partner of unsung Civil Rights hero Bayard Rustin, joined us in-person for a screening and Q&A of “Brother Outsider,” the acclaimed documentary featured at this year’s WorldPride in Washington DC. Joining the panel were distinguished teen guests from the Butterfly Effect Project, and moderator Dr. Georgette Grier-Key, director of the Eastville Community Historical Society. AND the dazzling Dawnette Darden started us off with two songs, the second an audience-participation-invited “Oh Freedom!” What an awesome evening! Check out the film, if you haven’t!

The Series Returns to Bay Street on Sun, Sept 28 with CAROL!

The Hamptons Pride Film Series returns this fall to Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor on the last Sunday of the month at 4pm. Get ready for CAROL on September 28 and, ghoulishly in time for Halloween, GODS AND MONSTERS on Oct 26. Advance tickets just $10. Day-of tickets are $15.

Looking ahead to November 30, we’re screening PHILADELPHIA in tandem with our second annual World AIDS Day observances on Dec 1 and 2, with quilts on display from the National AIDS Memorial at LTV in Wainscott. Stay tuned, friends, for more info on this moving 3-day event….

Past Events

Thank you to all who jumpstarted Pride with us on Sat, May 31 at a 7pm screening of the movie-musical sensation “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” in collaboration with Sag Harbor Cinema. What a fun way to gear up for John Cameron Mitchell‘s appearance the next week as grand marshal and performer at the Fourth Annual Hamptons Pride Parade!

And thank you to the many who made our film series debut this winter and spring so successful out of the gate–the first-ever LGBTQ+-themed film series in the Hamptons. We look forward to growing this vibrant new social and cultural outlet. See you at the movies!

Hamptons Pride, Inc. is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) public charity that celebrates and commemorates LGBTQ+ people and their allies on the East End of Long Island. The organization’s founding goal is the creation of an historical marker and outdoor social area on the footprint of The Swamp (the last and longest-running gay club in the Hamptons) in what is now Wainscott Green, a park in the Town of East Hampton. Hamptons Pride’s free services, including the annual Hamptons Pride Parade on the first Saturday of June in East Hampton Village, are made possible by the generosity of foundations, businesses, and individuals like you. Thank you!
